How do we ensure translation quality?
Professional linguists only
All translators who apply to work with Nitro and/or on Alconost projects must first pass our examination. Only 2.5% of applicants pass the test and can work with Nitro or Alconost translations.
Glossary and Translation Memory
With Nitro, you can create your own glossary and translation memory, so that translators can be more accurate and have the opportunity to dive into the specifics of your project.
Comments and feedback
Nitro allows you to leave comments and attach images and/or interface screenshots for the translator within the order. After your order is assigned to the translator, you can leave extra comments and communicate with the translator directly.
Continuous quality control
We constantly monitor the quality of work done by our translators by reviewing customer feedback via our supervision system. Only translators with a consistently high standard of work are allowed to work in Nitro.

Why are translation rates to English different from rates to French, Spanish, or Arabic?
Human translation rates can vary based on several factors. Because English is a widely spoken and often in-demand language, it might have lower rates compared to languages with fewer speakers or specific regional dialects. Additionally, the complexity of the language pair, the rarity of language combinations, and the expertise required can influence translation costs. Different languages may involve distinct linguistic challenges that affect the time and effort needed for an accurate translation. Economic factors, market demand, and the availability of skilled translators for each language pair also contribute to the variations in translation rates.
Can I order proofreading services?
Yes, it is.
If you would like to place an order for your text to be proofread by a native speaker in Nitro, please make sure that the selected source and target languages are the same. For example, English → English [Proofreading].
What is a glossary used for, and how can I upload it?
A glossary is a list of terms specific to a particular subject area. For example, in business this might be the names of products and services; in gaming — the names of characters, locations, and items; and in app development — the captions of various interface elements.
Example: I want the company name Nitro to be translated from English to Japanese as Nitro (not “ニトロ”). In this case, I need to add two languages to the glossary: English and Japanese, and then add the term Nitro in both languages.
Using glossaries eliminates the need to provide comments for the translator about terminology. A glossary contributes to maintaining consistency in translated text across multiple orders and saves you time.
You can create one yourself on the Glossaries page, or upload in TBX format on your own. If you’ll have any problems, please contact us via email nitro@alconost.com or via live chat.
How can I benefit from a Translation Memory (TM)? Can I upload it?
Translation memory (TM) is a repository of sentence pairs comprising source and target segments. This repository is based on your prior Nitro translations.
Translation memory enables the reuse of prior translations within a project. It accelerates the localization process for translators, ensuring consistency and enhancing the quality of translations. Besides, TM can be useful for you as well – you can go to your personal account and check it anytime for quick translation of the same phrases that you have used before.
If your order contains a piece of text that will match your TM, you’ll automatically get a 70% discount on the segment of translation matching to your TM.
To upload your TM, please send it to us in TMX format to nitro@alconost.com or via chat.
You can upload TM in the Translation Memory page in TMX format on your own. If you’ll have any problems, please contact us via email nitro@alconost.com or via live chat.
