What we do

From translation and QA to voice-over and video — all in one place, or just the piece you need.

Linguistic Quality Assurance

Find and fix quality issues in your existing translations, whatever the source — another vendor, internal team, or AI. What LQA looks like in your case depends on your goals, pain points, and budget.

Quality Audit

We check your existing translations against a database of common issues — placeholder errors, line breaks, capitalization, terminology drift — and focus review only on the risky strings. You spend your budget on the problems that actually matter, not blanket proofreading.

Quality Scoring & Monitoring

We evaluate your translations using MQM methodology — accuracy, fluency, terminology, style — and deliver a TQI score. Hard data, not gut feelings. Run it once for a snapshot, or set up regular checks to track quality across updates.

In-Context Localization Testing

We play through your build, spot language issues in UI, tutorials, and story — fix what we can, report on the rest with actionable notes.

Cultural Review

We flag content that could hurt your ratings or trigger regional bans, and suggest safer alternatives.

LQA Process Design

Community translations? Freelancer patchwork? Terms drifting? Players notice — and leave. We design an LQA process that fits your setup and budget, so your localization feels polished and players actually want to stay.

Text Localization

Native linguists who play your genre translate your game. Your fantasy RPG gets translators who know the difference between a lich and a wraith — not someone who plays a match-3 game from time to time.

All In-Game Text

UI, dialogues, item descriptions, tutorials, achievements. Native speakers who use these terms in their own gaming, not dictionary definitions.

Marketing & Store Content

App store descriptions, website copy, social posts, and ads adapted for each market so your promotions speak the way local players actually talk.

Cultural Adaptation & Transcreation

Jokes, idioms, and cultural references adapted so your game feels native to each region. Before we start, we align on what 'adaptation' means for your project — no surprises at delivery.

Glossaries, TM & Style Guides

Characters, locations, items, abilities — all named consistently across every language and every update. We build and maintain your glossary and translation memory so terms don't drift.

AI, When We Know It Helps

Human translation is our default. On projects where AI can deliver the same quality for less, we identify those opportunities and recommend a specific setup. If you'd rather keep it fully human, we're with you on that — no convincing, no workarounds.

Release-Synced Delivery

Weekly patches, seasonal events, new DLC — new strings land in all languages on your schedule. No market left waiting.

Localization Testing

We play through your build in every language to catch localization issues in context — problems that hurt player experience or block purchases.

UI/UX Checks

Menus, buttons, inventory, controls — the first thing players see. We catch truncated texts, overlapping strings, broken variables before they tank your reviews — and checkout issues before they cost you sales.

Player Onboarding Checks

Confusing tutorial? Players quit before the game even starts. We check localization of every onboarding element — tutorial levels, training modes, starter quests — so nothing gets lost in translation when it matters most.

Narrative & Plot Checks

Story drives retention. We check character voice, humor, and tone — plus term consistency across dialogues. Your narrative stays yours — in every language.

Full Issue Reporting & Fixes

Typos, wrong terms, language errors — we fix them directly. Code-side issues? Your dev team gets screenshots and exact fixes — one report, no guesswork.

Mobile, PC & Beyond

We run localization compatibility testing on mobile and PC — making sure your game renders and functions correctly in every language. Console testing is available too — availability varies by platform and locale, so get in touch to confirm.

Voice-Over and Dubbing

Professional voice acting in 100+ languages that keeps your game's emotional punch — with producers who know how to get it right.

Voice Casting & Recording

We pick native-speaking talents who match your characters' personality — and deliver performances that carry the same emotion across every language.

Dubbing & Voice-Over

Character dialogues and narrator lines performed by native actors — so players in every region get the same immersion. Lip-sync, time sync? Will do.

Subtitling

Accessible gaming with smooth, well-timed captions that don't block the action.

Post-Production & File Delivery

Audio effects like echo, radio crackle, or robotic filters — plus files sliced, named, and formatted exactly how your dev team expects.

Game Video Production

Trailers and teasers that show what makes your game worth playing — and make viewers want to hit download.

Video Localization

Already have a trailer? We produce localized versions with dubbed voice-over and translated captions for each market.

2D and 3D Animation

Motion designers bring scripts to life using your assets or creating the video from scratch.

Game Trailers & Teasers

Promo videos designed to grab attention and encourage downloads. We deliver fast and in any aspect ratio, formatted to each platform's specs — App Store, ad networks, you name it.

// 03 — Quality

Quality you can measure

Whether it’s a fully human translation or an AI-powered one, quality at Alconost is scored, tracked, and explainable. Here’s how.

TQI — Translation Quality Index

The industry standard for evaluating translation quality. Each linguist is scored through LQA reviews — every error classified by category and impact. Our baseline TQI threshold is 95%. Need a stricter threshold? We filter by a higher TQI score on request.

AQI — Alconost Quality Index

Our proprietary metric for AI-assisted projects. We test multiple engines on your actual content — scoring each with nTER, BLEU, ChrF, BERTScore, COMET, and COMET QE, then adding human linguist assessment on top. The AQI score combines all metric results into a single objective rating — so we can recommend the best-fit engine for your specific content and language pair.

Audit for Any Translation

Already have a translation — from another vendor, your internal team, or AI? We apply TQI methodology to evaluate it: every issue is classified and weighted by how much it matters. You see exactly where the problems are and which ones need attention first.

// 04 — Integrate

Already set up? Good.

Some studios we work with already have a localization vendor. They come to us when a specific track needs extra hands.

Marketing

Marketing localization is still waiting.

While your main vendor stays focused on the game, we handle store pages, trailers, press kits, and launch campaigns — in the languages and tone each market expects.

Quality Check

Something's translated, but it's not converting.

A linguist walks through your live build — menus, purchase flow, onboarding — and finds what the spreadsheet missed. We fix what we can directly. The rest goes to your team with clear recommendations and priority order.

Soft Launch

Soft launch feedback flagged a language.

There's still time before the next markets go live. We audit the problem language, fix what's there, and bring those lessons into the next locale — so the same issues don't travel.

Starting from scratch?

We build the foundation.

If localization isn’t set up yet, we build the foundation — workflow, the right linguist team, glossaries, quality control, and integrations that fit your environment. We handle the setup so you can focus on the game.

Everything we build together — glossaries, translation memory, style guides — stays yours. Fully exportable, no lock-in.

// 05 — Pipeline

Technology & process built for games

The basics, plus the bits that matter when you ship across platforms.

Translation Memory & GlossariesJSON, XML, CSV, XLIFF, UnityCrowdin, Lokalise, Phrase, memoQ & more
Localization pipeline: strings to translate and review to deploy, looping back

Plugged Into Your Pipeline

Perforce, GitHub, GitLab, AWS, proprietary tools — we adapt. Source strings in, translated strings back, flowing automatically. If you can export strings, we can work with it. Your devs push and pull via API or CLI with a single command.

Continuous Localization

Translations sync with every release for all content types. Linguists stay assigned to your project long-term. String changes trigger automatic jobs — no spreadsheets, no email chains, no missed updates.

Expert AI Engineering

Human translation is our starting point. When AI can deliver the same quality at lower cost, we find that setup and recommend it — engine, workflow, and scope included. The choice is always yours; we make sure it's an informed one.

AI Engine Selection through AQI

To find the right engine for AI-assisted projects, we test multiple models directly on your content using six automated metrics plus human linguist assessment. All results feed into a single AQI score — an objective, numbers-backed answer to which engine fits your content and language pair best. That means the recommendation we make is grounded in your project, not general benchmarks.

// 07 — Why Us

Why studios choose us

The small set of things studios tell us made the difference once we started working together.

We handle the nuances

Character speech patterns, implied subtext, humor that needs to land — we get into all of it. Our translators genuinely enjoy that part.

No volume commitments

Send 1,500 characters one month, 150,000 the next — we're ready to scale up and down. No penalties, no attitude.

AI expertise, applied where it counts

When AI can save budget without touching quality, we find that setup and recommend it. You don't have to figure out where AI fits — that's our job.

Fast turnaround when it counts

For active projects with urgent requests, we have a fast lane.

Where’s the rate card?

Game localization pricing depends on your language pairs, content volume, and service level. A flat rate per word wouldn’t tell the full story — a match-3 mobile game and a narrative console RPG are different projects in every sense. We’ll give you an accurate quote based on your actual project — usually within 24 hours.

No setup fees. No subscriptions. We integrate with your existing workflow or build one from scratch.

Frequently Asked Questions

We already have a localization vendor. Why would we need you?
Keep them. We work alongside existing vendors, taking on specific tracks — marketing localization, a quality audit, or testing ahead of a new launch. Try us on one task; you'll know quickly if we fit.
How do you make sure translators actually understand my game's genre?
We filter in three steps: first by language pair, then by gaming experience, then by your specific genre — MMORPG, survival horror, visual novel, strategy, etc. Each linguist has a profile with their gaming background and genre expertise. Some clients test this by sending content without context to see if our translators pick up on genre conventions. They do.
How do you handle AI and machine translation?
Human translation is where we start. On projects where AI can reduce costs without affecting quality, we identify those opportunities and recommend a specific setup — engine, workflow, scope. The recommendation is ours to make; we stand behind it. And if human-only is your standard, we're fully on board with that — no convincing, no workarounds.
How much does game localization cost?
The cost depends on your language pairs, content type, and service level — which is why we don't publish flat rates. A match-3 game and a narrative RPG are genuinely different projects in every sense.

We offer three approaches to fit different needs and budgets: Maximum Quality (100% human translation, with LQT), Standard (human translation with targeted quality testing on the content that matters most), and AI-Assisted (AI translation with full human review on every word). Each has a different cost profile.

Tell us what you're working on and we'll send you an accurate quote — usually within 24 hours.
How do you handle continuous localization for live games?
We sync with your release schedule — new strings in, translations out, ready for deployment. Weekly drops get the same linguists who know your glossary. Urgent patches? 24–48 hours.
How do you handle confidentiality for unreleased games?
NDA-protected workflows, secure file transfers, and strict access controls. All linguists sign project-specific NDAs. If you prefer no AI involvement for confidentiality reasons, we don't use it — simple as that.
What languages do you support?
120+ languages, covering all major gaming markets: FIGS (French, Italian, German, Spanish), CJK (Chinese, Japanese, Korean), Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Turkish, Polish, Thai, Vietnamese, and many more. If your target language isn't already covered, we find and vet the right linguists.
Can you audit translations done by another vendor or AI?
Yes — quality audit is a standalone service. We evaluate existing translations using TQI methodology: errors are classified and weighted by how much they matter, so you get a clear picture of what's wrong and how critical each issue is. Works for translations from any source — human, AI, or community-translated content.
How do you measure translation quality?
We use TQI — Translation Quality Index — based on MQM methodology. Every error is classified and weighted by how much it matters. Our TQI standard is 95% — higher on request. On AI-assisted projects, we also use AQI — Alconost Quality Index — to evaluate engine performance before selecting the best fit for your content.
What's the difference between TQI and AQI?
TQI (Translation Quality Index) measures the quality of the final translated text — whether it was produced by our linguists, another vendor, or an AI with human post-editing. Each error is classified by impact and severity. It's how we track and maintain quality across projects and linguists.

AQI (Alconost Quality Index) is different: it measures how well an AI engine performs on your specific content and language pair — before we recommend it for your project. It's only relevant on AI-assisted projects. That's how we know we're recommending the right one.
Can you work alongside our existing vendor?
Absolutely — multi-vendor setups are something we're used to and comfortable with. Some studios bring us in for specific pieces their current vendor can't cover right now: marketing localization, a quality audit, or localization testing ahead of a new platform launch. We slot in where we're needed, without disrupting what's already working.
How can I get started?
Tell us what you're working on and what's not working the way you'd like. If you can share the game, we'll come to the first call already familiar with it. Either way, we'll have pointed questions — and a draft plan ready to discuss.
