Opening for a localization and translation project manager

At Alconost, we localize (translate) apps, games, and websites into more than seventy languages.

Our translators are native speakers living in a number of different countries.

Our clients are development companies that create and sell software, websites, and games. They include Fortune 500 businesses alongside small indie companies.

We help developers make their products and sites accessible to users who speak different languages. To achieve this, we organize localization process; select suitable professional tools (CAT, project management systems, etc.); and put together a team of translators and editors.

These processes are supervised by a localization manager.

As a rule, this will be a university graduate who is pleasant to deal with, who speaks English fluently and has the ability to conduct business correspondence in it, also knowing a second—and sometimes a third—foreign language. They will be polite, love helping people, respond quickly to letters and messages, and not be afraid to take responsibility.

Since we work with developers, a localization manager’s tech background is very important. It’s great if they are interested in IT, know how to put an HTML page together, and understand what XML and JSON are. Ideally, they will already have independently translated apps or games, or managed projects.

That’s the kind of person we’re looking for right now: either someone who is already an experienced professional, or someone prepared to learn everything with our help.

If you studied technical subjects at university, but have a passion for foreign languages, or if you’re a linguist, but you dream of working in IT,—then the job of translation and localization project manager may well be for you.

At Alconost we believe in a work-life balance. There’s a lot of serious work, but workload varies, and timetable is flexible. That does mean you’ll often need to be contactable on weekends and public holidays, but on the other hand you'll get plenty of time to attend to your own business during working days. The main thing is to get the priorities right and not to become a bottleneck in the process: work on projects shouldn’t be held up because of you.

We mostly work remotely. Initially you’ll need to come into the office for training, but after that you can work from anywhere on the planet.

If you’re interested in this opening, please fill out the form below.

Please be prepared to send us a full resume, to perform a small test task, to talk to us on the phone, and to meet for an interview.

Thank you!

Are you prepared to work remotely?*
We ask this question because it is important for us to know whether you have your own office in order to carry out a remote working relationship: a separate room that cannot be accessed by others, quiet working conditions, the ability to talk on the phone, a lack of distractions (family members, children, workers engaged in repairs, etc.), and unlimited Internet access.
